The non-profit Civil Association Awana Llaqta (People that weaves), was founded in 1995, by a group of women entrepreneurs; organized in work centers and distributed in the different communities of Chinchero, composed mostly of mothers, single mothers, widows, young people, who are dedicated to elaborate a great variety of designs, having a meticulous work in the preservation of the textiles, reason that encouraged us to launch our brand to the market and make the work of our organization known to the world.
Where they are also explained about the natural dyes that give the fabrics their distinctive color, which are made of leaves, flowers, minerals and even insects. The unique range of colors and designs used in clothing, blankets and decoration are not only chosen for the aesthetic, but also because of the importance they have for the community, and the history of a millenary culture.
The main objective of the AwanaLlaqta Textile Center is to revalue our customs that our ancestors left us the Incas. Rescuing and promoting our traditional Andean fabrics.
